Privacy Policy

This policy explains what rescape.earth collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep data collection minimal and don’t sell your data. Everything runs on our own infrastructure — we don’t use third-party ad networks, trackers, or CDNs.

What we collect

• Account details — your email address and name, and, if you sign in with a third party, the basic profile that provider shares. We don’t store passwords in plain text.
• Job data — the regions (bounding boxes) you export, the formats and options you choose, and the resulting files, so we can process your jobs and show them in your account.
• Payment data — handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of a payment and a reference to it, but we never see or store your card details.
• Usage analytics — anonymous-ish product events (e.g. pages viewed, jobs started) via our own self-hosted PostHog instance, used to understand how the Service is used and improve it.
• Technical logs — standard server logs including IP address and request metadata, used to keep the Service running securely and to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse.

How we use it

To provide and operate the Service — process your exports, run your account, take payment for paid jobs, respond to support requests, keep the Service secure and reliable, and improve how it works. We don’t use your data for advertising and we don’t sell it.

Who we share it with

Only the processors we need to run the Service — most notably Stripe for payment processing, which handles your card data under its own privacy policy. We may disclose data if required by law. We don’t share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Map & terrain data

The buildings and terrain in your models come from third-party open datasets (such as Overture Maps / OpenStreetMap and USGS 3DEP). That’s input map data, not personal information about you — but the regions you choose to export are stored with your job as described above.

Cookies & local storage

We use cookies and browser storage that are necessary for the Service to work — chiefly to keep you signed in. We don’t use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Retention

We keep account and job data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Exported files may be retained so you can re-download them from your account, though download links can expire — keep a copy of anything you want to preserve. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data (see below).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@rescape.earth and we’ll help.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to limit what we collect in the first place.

Children

The Service isn’t directed at children and isn’t intended for use by anyone under the age required to consent to data processing in their jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.
