Rio de Janeiro 3D model

Rio de Janeiro — DXF + STL

Isometric render of the Rio de Janeiro export — terrain surface with building masses and road network

Dense low-rise blocks pressed between the hills and the sea. Rio is where the limits of a 30 m global DEM show most clearly: the granite morros are steep enough that the terrain wants finer sampling than any free global source provides.

What to expect here

  • Copernicus GLO-30 (30 m) is the terrain source — steep morro faces are smoothed relative to reality.
  • Very high building density at low height, in strong contrast to the terrain behind it.
  • Southern hemisphere UTM zone, same importer caveat as Sydney.

Where the data comes from

Terrain sources are tried in order and the first one that actually covers the region wins, so the resolution you get depends on what has been flown here:

  1. 1 Copernicus DEM GLO-30 30 m

Buildings, roads, water and landuse come from Overture Maps, which is global and openly licensed. Building heights are used where the source has them.
